Nature Based Therapy
Do you already feel more at home in nature? Are you already noticing the mental and physical health benefits of spending more time outside? Nature-based therapy combines traditional counseling with the restorative power of the natural world. Whether we're walking a trail, sitting beside a stream, or using nature as a therapeutic metaphor, therapy can become a more grounded and embodied experience.
What is nature based therapy?
Many people feel more at ease outdoors than in a traditional office setting. Nature-based therapy integrates evidence-informed counseling practices with experiences in natural environments to support healing, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.
Nature has a unique way of reminding us that growth is not linear. Seasons change. Rivers adapt around obstacles. Wildflowers bloom in their own time. The natural world offers powerful lessons about healing, resilience, and self-compassion that can support the therapeutic process.
Nature can help us:
Slow down and become present
Reduce stress and overwhelm
Connect with our bodies
Explore challenges from a new perspective
Cultivate resilience and self-trust
What nature based therapy can look like
Walk and Talk Sessions
Walk and talk sessions allow for the benefit of bilateral stimulation of movement during psychotherapy. Walk and talk sessions can go the whole session, or involve going for a short walk to a beautiful sit spot. Spring creek trail is right behind Glacier Lily office which allows for diverse walking trails and beautiful sit spots.
Nature Based IFS
Nature-Based internal family systems invites you to explore different parts of yourself while connecting with the wisdom and support of the natural world. Nature can help bring awareness to inner experiences, creating space for greater self-understanding, compassion, and healing.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that helps access and process experiences that may be held deep within the brain and body. By noticing where you look and what you feel, Brainspotting can support healing, emotional regulation, and greater self-understanding. Nature provides a calming backdrop for this work to unfold.
